Welcome to Carolina Boating School. Our goal is to help you become more confident and safe on the water by providing hands-on private boating lessons. Whether you are brand new to boating and just purchased your very first boat, or you have years of experience but want to refresh some of your skills, Carolina Boating School has you covered. We offer stress free instruction catered specifically to meet your needs covering topics like docking/undocking, boat ramp operations, navigating the local waterways, vessel safety, and much more.
Private Boating Lessons

We have several training vessels available in the Ogden, NC area. All of our vessels are professionally maintained and fully insured for commercial use!
Government contracts: USMC, Police, fire
Carolina Boating School provides a comprehensive U.S. Coast Guard–approved OUPV (Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels) course for government contracts. The program covers all required topics within the Captain’s License curriculum, tailored toward practical and operational use. The course will consist of 40+ hours in the classroom with two USCG certified instructors.
Following the OUPV course, students will meet with Carolina Boating School for a 40-hour hands-on boating course. The hands-on training will include familiarization with multiple vessels, navigation, tight quarters maneuvering drills, learning the Foundation of Boat Handling, docking and undocking, transiting waterways, navigation equipment, anchoring, and more.
Captain’s license course
Ever wanted to obtain your Captain’s License? Carolina Boating School is now offering a USCG Approved Captain’s Course in the Wilmington, NC area. A 6-pack OUPV license is required for experienced mariners looking to operate uninspected fishing charters, dive boats, sightseeing boats, ferries and sailing charters. A “6-pack” license is required for anyone operating a vessel with 6 or less passengers for hire. We also offer the Master’s Course and Towing Endorsement Course online!
